How
you got interested in Tennis? I used to do swimming and play
badminton when I was a kid. Later on I learnt about playing Tennis. My
coach did not agree to coach me as I was underage. My first guru in Tennis
is my mother. I began playing Tennis at an age of 6 years. I was initially
reluctant to play Tennis. My headmistress convinced me to participate in a
Tennis tournament. If she had not made me play that tournament, my life
would not be the same.
What
is your secret of success? Hard work is the secret of my success.
In order to achieve the goal, I had to sacrifice certain things in love in
my life.
What
are your hobbies? Cricket, watching TV and listening to music are
my hobbies. Tennis is not my hobby, it is my life!
Who
is your favorite sportsperson? Sachin is my favorite sportsperson.
He is my inspiration. He made India proud with his achievements. My role
model in Tennis is Steffi Graf. Roger Federer and Lindsay Davenport are
the best in Tennis at present.
Who
are your favorite film stars and what are your favorite films? I am
a fan of Akshay Kumar since childhood. I met him few days back. I have
never seen such a handsome man in my life. Madhuri Dixit is my favorite
actress. Lata Mangeshkar and Sonu Nigam are my favorite singers. Kuch Kuch
Hota Hain and Dil Chahta Hain are my favorite films.
What
did you want to become when you were a kid? I wanted to become
doctor at first. Later on I wanted to become IAS officer. Now I became a
Tennis player. I am very happy with my profession now. I would like to
become an interior designer once I retire from Tennis.
What
are your favorite colors? Black and red.
What
is your favorite food? I love Biryani. I do not eat fast
food.
What
is your birthday? 15th November
What
is your favorite city? I was born in Mumbai and brought up in
Hyderabad. Hyderabad is my favorite city. My next favorite is
Jaipur.
What
are your goals now? I don't have any goals in particular. I would
be playing a tournament in Hong Kong. I never fear players with better
rankings.
What
is your message to kids? Be happy and try to make the people around
